Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third horror film in the Hatchet Series. It follows the continuing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.



The practical effects in the film are the film's greatest strength. Unlike many modern horror movies which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

Kane Hodder is a standout in the ensemble and is a formidable villain. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher movie. It is witty and funny enough. Additionally, there are some (click now to read blogs) genuinely funny moments throughout that provide comedic contrast against all of the gut-wrenching action on screen.

Unfortunately, due to the budget being small (1 million dollars), many locations were duplicates from earlier films. Hatchet 2's boat house was used only once, and the remainder of the footage seems like it was reused from previous films. It can feel almost too familiar especially for people who've already seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable although it was like the previous entries within the series. It provided lots of gory thrills as well as entertaining performances by the cast members.
